Re: Turkey populations in your area

I think the coyote argument is b.s yeah they get lucky sometimes, but I've watched multiple multiple altercations in the field and most times turkey goes away unscathed. It is overall BS. Coyotes are not made to successfully hunt turkeys. When rushing a flock and the turkey takes to the air they do...

Re: Turkey populations in your area

I think one thing in my area that really led to decline was the science of farming. Farming is now science, ain't ever seen a soy bean till past five years, now there everywhere, we we're to cold to grow, than shorter germination soys were bred. Same can be said with alfalfa, science, alfalfa maturi...

They are using lots of chicken poop for fertilizer in fields and I wonder if they are killing our turkeys in Kansas with it I forgot about chicken manure theory it makes sense. Re: Turkey populations in your area

Our population peaked late 90s, as I would say"strutter in every field" we went downhill and about 05 it was horrible. I would go 3-4 days on the most primo property spread over 3 counties, here nothing. I'm talking hitting 20-30 properties a day. About four years ago, we started to build back. Righ...

Supposed to be, we had a guide run a few early hunts while we were in Florida, but gave our lodge up to those fighting the wildfires. I'm bummed, but that's more important

Somedays the compulsion grinds ya down. You hunt more out of have to than a want to.

:turkeywave:
Try having someone hand you $1700 and has 8 hrs to kill his Osceola, while your worn out from 22 days of grinding, beat, yet something has to happen.

Re: TIGHTER CHOKE FOR 12 GAUGE FEDERAL TSS???

seems to me if you are choking a flight control wad more you are defeating the purpose of flight control wad. :dontknow: I've patterned 20 g hw7 through a pile of chokes. I assume this new wad is soft like the 20 vs the 12 g was in hws. The tighter I choked my core got better. It may sound stupid b...

I'm guiding in Florida we're batting 100 percent. But your experience is no different than ours on really good private. I got down here and they were in bachelor groups, day before season they got with hens. Gobbling has been minimal to say the least, having to either go kill um, wait um out or they...
