Re: Most productive box call

A maple over persimmon long box by Ralph Snodgrass has struck and worked countless birds the past 20 years. Easily the most productive.

The IC .555 in my Mossberg 500 throws an awesome Foxtrot pattern using 1 5/8 oz. of 8.5s, 1 5/8 oz. of 9s, and 1 3/8 oz of 8s.

Man, George, that was a close call. Glad everything turned out OK for you. I had a factory new Ruger SP101 chambered for the recently debuted extremely high pressured .327 Federal Magnum. That gun was early production revolver, and the Federal factory brass were splitting in the cylinders and not ej...

Re: Personal observations on Mr. Fox vest

There's been a number of times that could have been helpful. It gets uncomfortable fast trying to not slide downhill with a gobbler coming in. Take a downed tree branch you find laying on the ground, maybe 4 inches in diameter, and lay it in front of the setup tree. Your padded seat goes between th...

Re: Can you purr on a scratch box?

Use the thumb, or thumb / index finger, of the hand holding the striker as a pivot point for the scratch box. So two points of contact on the scratch box for consistency. Running it one handed takes a practice. That second point of contact acts like the screw holding the paddle of a box call. Still ...

Use a mountain bike during spring season too, and like Gil I carry my single shot cross shoulder with the sling. Can cover a lot more ground on a bike in 30-40 minutes round trip vs. investing 2+ hours walking in from the gate and back. Hunting off the bike I'm going light - trumpet or Jordan style,...

Craig's Bond is fantastic, he's really the first believable portrayal of the Bond character. Never cared much for the Bond franchise until Craig did it. No Time to Die was a good movie and like you, ready to see it again.
