Re: 28 ga. & .410 turkeys
IMG_3294.JPG Her first bird. We sat in a blind for 3 1/2 hrs and not a gobble. On the walk out, struck a bird, and within 5 minutes he was on us. Had her sit next to an oak tree in the shade. She missed the first shot at ten yards, he looked back at thirty and she rolled him. Savage Stevens 301T. F...

First bird with Yildez .410. Super Jake tricked me...that'll teach him. Sumtoy choke and federal shell. A twenty yard chip shot

Re: Hatfield Single Shot .410?
Just my opinion. I bought one earlier this year when I couldn't get a Yildiz shipped to me, and the Savage 301 T was like turkey teeth, pretty much unfindable west of the Mississippi. First shot with the Hatfield, I got a mouse under my eye like I'd been kicked by a rented mule. That was a 2 3/4&quo...

Re: 28 ga. & .410 turkeys
Two in two days with the Savage 301 410. Federal factory #9's. Factory choke, extra full. First bird with a .410. I have to admit, it was easier than with a bow and arrow. Great job. You ever get the Baikal MP18 20 ga. up and running after the red dot battery failure? Gil Yep. Cost me a morning, bu...

Re: Stevens 301 Turkey Gun Rail ?
Sent my Vortex Venom back to Vortex. The dot wouldn't adjust enough to get on target. Had an old cheap one that bolted right on. But, as you can see, it's way too high. So, added a cheek riser to adjust and at least everything is in line. Not a low profile rig like I'd hoped for. But it puts the sho...

Re: Stevens 301 Turkey Gun Rail ?
I can see I'm having the same problem. The rail supplied with the 310T is too high for my Venom.
I'd like a contoured mount if possible, but right now I'd settle just to get it closer to the barrel.

Re: Convenient hearing protection while hunting
I shoot ducks 50 days a season. Have been using hearing protection for over 25 years while wingshooting. Still have hearing loss from my career on the fire service. I use MSA Sorbin Pro ear muffs. They amplify so I can hear some, and shut down with shot or loud calling. They are low profile. But you...

Re: Lightweight gun weights
In response to choke tubing a gun, the first thing to do is reload a couple TSS shells and run them through the original choke. My old single shot Savage 220 runs 230 at 4o yards. That’s going to make them dead enough for me.

Re: Another Savage 220A 20 gauge pattern of TSS 9s.
Based on the factory choke performance on the 20 gauge guns, I just purchased a 220B 3" .410. I hope to have testing results in the near future. Hmm. A .410 ..... If only I could finish the projects I've started. Not sure I'm looking forward to seeing your results- they keep costing me money. ...

Re: Another Savage 220A 20 gauge pattern of TSS 9s.
If you open the barrel up to 3" does it need to be re proofed? I guess if I have it tapped for a sight it would be time to have a 3" chamber and testing done. I do agree that I have been very careful about 3" shells and carrying a 2 3/4" gun. Real nervous the other morning with m...

Re: Hard lessons, learned the hard way.
Had a Red Dot battery failure. Turned it on just before fly down and it all looked good. When I picked the gun as Tom walked in the view was blank. At that time my SBE1 had a saddle mount. There is actually a small space under the saddle that you can look down the rib and see the front bead. I actua...

Great bird. 99.5 points, WOW. By the looks of his hat band your guest just needed a place to sit, not a guide.
