Re: A little Christmas humor

On Christmas morning a cop on horseback is sitting at a traffic light, and next to him is a kid on his brand new bike. The cop says to the kid, "Nice bike you got there. Did Santa bring that to you?" The kid says, "Yeah." The cop says, "Well, next year tell Santa to put a tail-light on that bike." T...

Re: O/U doubled

I just bought a Weatherby (SKB) Orion SSC. They have a reputation for doubling. The triggers are mechanical not inertia. The supposed fix is to remove the stock and clean/lube the trigger mechanism. Being your gun is new, I would doubt that it’s dirty. Maybe gummed up or in need of some lub. Fairly ...

Re: MLer trajectory results.

I can see where that would make a difference! That clears things up some. It appeared to me that you were bustin’ my balls and I really didn’t want any part of that!
I understand what happened and my balls feel better!

Re: MLer trajectory results.

No worries!! Nothing in my post is/was directed at you, VALongbeard. I appreciate your kind words! I guess that 2shooter figured that this was a contest with a distinct winner and loser, and according to his math, I am the loser. I get that. I offered MY opinion as to where it would shoot. That’s wh...

I would say Tom was right!!!
With all due respect, that shot at 100” is not 2” low! I agree that it’s not as high as I thought it would be but it’s not 2” low!
It is close enough to being dead on at 100’ to satisfy most.
I don’t understand your logic. :dontknow:

Re: Barrel length

The 28” bbl. wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me. To me, it’s A bit more clumsy in the woods but if the price is right, and money is an issue, it sounds like a good deal. The longer bbl. will be a plus for your waterfowl hunting! Its hard to find a bbl length that your happy to hunt both with.

Re: MLer trajectory results.

Interesting results. First off. Wondering why your POI changed in a week? But stuff like that happens. So important to shoot your weapon before a hunt. Second.. Glad to see that the 100 shot was not appreciably low. I expected it to be a tad higher than that, though. A person can live with that!! Th...

Re: ML'er Trajectory question.

Thanks, Red. I’m curious as to what it will be. My experience is pretty much with centerfire rifles. Still cautiously optimistic that it will not be low at 100.
I am not too old for new tricks!! Gettin damn close, though!!

Ok. I guess he’ll have to shoot it get the real numbers. But I’m still betting on it being high at 100 not low. Oh well.

Re: ML'er Trajectory question.

Tom. I can believe your numbers as a line of trajectory from a straight line out of the bore. But if you have a scope on the gun that is inches above that line, the trajectory stays the same but the sighting plane comes into effect. That’s where the high part comes in at 100. The higher the scope is...

Agreed, Bumblefoot. We sighted a ML in last week and put it dead nuts at 50’. You’ll be fine to 100 and beyond.

Re: ML'er Trajectory question.

I’m guessing that you’d be 1-2” high at 100’. If you’re shooting through a scope. My reasoning is that most deer calibers that are dead nuts at 50 will shoot that high at 100’. It’s because of the height of the scope in relation to the center of the bbl. Just my humble opinion but it is reasonably q...

Re: Turkey Decoys in the timber.

I’ve used them in the woods in Wi. and Mi. And never had a problem. Like in any hunt, you win some, you lose some. I generally just used a hen or two. But have used a jake with them and that has worked well, also. Generally a pain in the a$$ to carry in more than less.

Those 3 1/2”ers kick like a rented mule outta any non gas gun, but those Mossbergs seem to take it to the extreme. I shoot an Benelli SBE and it will knock the snot outta ya.

Re: New guy from Wisconsin

If your son shot a turkey with your Mossberg and then took ownership of it, you had better not let him near that 11-87!! You’ll be out of another gun and probably back to the a$$ kickin’ Mossy... :toothy7:
