Operation next month

Getting the right hip replaced, and will have to get the left done in next couple of years. Wonder if they will let me have the bone to make strikers out of. That would sell like hot cakes on EBAY.

Hi buddy. Wife and myself both miss hunting, and our outdoor activities, but it is what it is. Getting old isn't easy.

Thanks guys. No big plans today. I grilled up a bunch of Venison burgers yesterday, and besides dinner my wife and myself had em for breakfast today. I need to get you guys the recipe. I would think the recipe would work for beef also.

Re: FIFA World Cup Soccer

Hate soccer. My family is American football fans, and just about all the guys played at different levels up to Pro. I do think I could get into Rugby, if I figured out the rules and scoring system.

My home state, Iowa. Limited, over pressured Public land, and it has gotten harder to get permission to hunt on Private.

Re: FALL TURKEY HUNTING...

When I started Turkey Hunting, I only hunted in the Fall, because I was a passionate fisherman. I didn't care for it much, and only did it once after that, to train a youth hunter.

Actually, I was impressed with the Jake. I have never seen a single Jake stand up to a Gobbler, especially that long.

Re: Let’s see your turkey Spurs!!!!

I think Guess Who made a really cool spur necklace a few years ago. Not as time consuming as other neclace making methods. Hopefully he’ll post it again. It's been a while, and I'm feeling unusually social today. Your right, not near as time consuming. Although it is a bit cumbersome to wear on hun...

Re: Midwest turkey decline

Raccoons and Coyotes are definitely the major culprits in the decline of populations for all birds including Turkey and Pheasants. Back when the prices were still decent, I had a trapper stop to talk to me, and he must have had 25 Raccoons in the back of his pick up. Impressive, but now no one traps...

Re: Do you notch any of your calls?

NO. I plan on leaving my calls to my boys in good condition. Plus, none of us care about how many we've shot. We even didn't score them in early years. We hunt to fill tags. Hunt to fill tags? What's up with the trophies on your post? Seems to me if filling tags was all you cared about, you wouldn'...

Re: Gettin my butt kicked

Because I hunt areas of less trees, I am forced to do little run and gun, and use a sit and wait approach. If I have land that I know where the Turkeys are, I will hike in before dawn, and sit as long as it takes to shoot a Tom. I shoot birds all day, and call about every 45 minutes.

Re: Football guys

Our family lives for football at any level. I finally got the last of my grandkids done playing at high school, and one quit his college team after a concussion. He said being a doctor was more important than football. That only leaves Brady at New England from our family to watch, and at 40, that w...

Re: THE MYTH OF THE BEST SPRING TURKEY HUNTER

For years I had one weeks vacation to fill a couple of tags, and very little Private to hunt. I use to be envious of those that could hunt so many days, and on Private land to boot. However, hunting Public, and some Private land no one else would hunt, actually made a better Turkey hunter out of me....
