Re: Looking for 835 24" or 26" barrel
I saw a couple on eBay the other day. I'd like to get one for my dad's gun sometime. I saw them. I'm hoping to find one in Mossy Oak Breakup or one for really cheap that I could then camo dip if it's a different camo. I actually won an auction for one listed as a 26" but it was really 24"...

Looking for 835 24" or 26" barrel
Don't know where else to put this but I am looking for a 24" or 26" ported vent rib barrel in Mossy Oak or Realtree camo. If anyone has one in good condition and wants to get rid of it or knows where I can find one please let me know. Thanks!

Re: LONG BEARD TEST
Is it possible that I am the only one who sees the massive holes just outside the 10" in those patterns. Now I agree that the 10" circle numbers are very good, but the "pattern" leaves much to be desired. My thoughts exactly! 10" numbers look great but 20" give you a l...

NE Wyoming reports?
Just wondering if anyone has been around the Devils Tower area this spring and what the bird population is like. I'm thinking about booking with an outfitter for next year and just want to get some idea as to what the bird popluation is like after this past winter.

Re: LONG BEARD TEST
[quote="Spuriosity"]Friend bought a box of LB 3" 5s. Shot one today at 50 yds from my 26" 1187/IC .665. Not too shabby. Choke ate the wad up pretty bad, but the pattern is amazing for lead @ 50 yds. That's better than the best 40 yd pattern I ever shot with Pb 5s pre LB. Oh, and ...

Re: LONG BEARD TEST
I know the Drurys claimed to have killed a Tom at 66 yards but will these LEAD loads really be reliable at that range? I hope to never have to shoot at a turkey at 66 yards but I'd like to be able to shoot 55-60. Has anyone done any penetration tests with this stuff or does anyone have any kill repo...

Re: Youth Gun Opinions
I wouldn't worry bout something that is not going to happen for 5 years or as by then there will be something new and improved out. Maybe I'm just looking to buy a new gun and "tinker" with it! I know it's a long time away but still something to plan for. Never know when you might come ac...

Youth Gun Opinions
Ok, I'm planning just a bit ahead but I'd like to keep my eyes open for a youth gun for when my daughters turn 6-7 years old (they just turned 1). The first thing that comes to mind is a .410 or 28 ga. The negatives with those guns are 1) newer guns aren't cheap in those bores 2)older guns are usual...

Here's a red phase bird I shot 2 years ago.

I shot a bearded hen a few years ago too that had an 8 1/16" beard. I see bearded hens almost every year though.

Re: Field Gobbler Scenario
Field birds are EASY! I'd walk in an hour before sunrise along whichever fencline that would best breakup might silhouette. Set up a ground blind QUIETLY 40 yards from the roost tree. Put out 2 hen decoys 10 yards from your blind and shoot him in the face when he lands 20-30 yards from your blind. D...

New box call!
I just ordered a new box call from Bob Harwell. Won't come till Sept. though. Can't wait till it's in my hands! Bob was a great guy to talk with as well. Does anyone else on here have one of his calls?

Get masters blend injection fluid and syringes from a taxidermy supply shop. Inject them and they'll last forever.

Looking for help making pot calls
Hey guys, I'm a machinist as well as a turkey hunting nut. I'd like to learn how to make some pot calls and was wondering if anyone could offer some help such as reommending any books as well as suppliers for glass, slate, various woods, etc?

As long as there is skin attached it will stiffen up. Coleman fuel just removes the oils. Why would you eant the fan to remain pliable?

Re: My 2012 WI Tom
BTW this was shot with one of Hawglips TSS recipes! He didn't even flop when I hammered him at 45 yards. The only bad thing was that my pattern was so dense still that his neck and upper breast were shot up pretty bad not to mention his head of course.

Sorry, Haven't been on here for a while. I'm not Aaron or Greg but Aaron and I did this bird together. Aaron is a great Taxidermist and I'd say one of the best Turkey guys in the country. He has helped me a lot and I hope to learn from and work with him more in the future.

My 2012 WI Tom
Here is an Erythristic or "Red Phase" Eastern that I personally shot in central WI this past spring. I just finished it up last week and finally got some nice pics to post. If you are not familiar with color phases, "Reds" are the rarest making this a true trophy and a once in a ...

Re: Beard displays
The coolest display I've seen was in Mckenzie Taxidermy Supplies catalog. It's an artificial barnwood shadow box where you display a fan in the upper center portion and then attach a "rack" underneath to hang several beards. I couldn't find an online pic or lilnk to post but if I eventuall...

Re: I hate sewing !!!
Bad boy bodys from Brett D rock and I sure think they look better when completed than Cally's forms. Although I have seen some very nice mounts done with BBB's, and have read several good reports from guys who use them. I personally find them difficult to work with. Seems like 1/2 the people I talk...
