Re: ShurShot Stock question

Well, upon getting the responses, I think I’ll go for it. Was halfway debating having the receiver drilled/tapped for a rail. AND been looking for a reason to buy a SIG Romeo red dot. Turkey gun is about to be taken up a few notches. Thanks for the reply’s, y’all! Which Sig Model you looking at? Wa...

Re: ShurShot Stock question

You won't regret it, I wish I would have went to a red dot 20 years ago, finally went to one 3 hears ago and absolutely love it. I’ve avoided it for years. I was trying to keep things as simple as possible. As I’ve gained more knowledge of hunting birds. I’ve learned I need more patience in the spo...

Re: ShurShot Stock question

Wow. Seems pretty unanimous. I like the ShurShot but hoped to use my bead to keep things simple. I have been toying around with the idea of a red dot. That may just push me over the edge to go through with it. Thanks for the information, y’all. Is anyone else using a different brand/style pistol gri...

ShurShot Stock question

Last year I bought a Boyd’s thumbhole stock for my 1187. Didn’t really think it through because it made the gun HEAVY. So, I’m looking at the ShurShot. I saw a review somewhere that said that it would make it impossible to use your bead on the vent rib. I don’t really see that being an issue, but I ...

Re: First out of state hunt. Oklahoma Rios!?

You can't buy KS permits online anymore so be aware ,you will need a hunting license too along with tags. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk Aww man! I thought I read you could buy them online. If not, won’t be a huge problem. Yeah, I read where you have to have both license and tag. That’s not a...

Re: First out of state hunt. Oklahoma Rios!?

Thanks again, Hobbes. I was just looking at that map this morning and mapping them out in relation to where we would be staying. I dig the idea of having lots of smaller parcels to jump to. I’m starting to get a little more excited about it. Looking through KS turkey regs, I see they don’t have an a...

Re: First out of state hunt. Oklahoma Rios!?

Thanks, Hobbes! It looks like the more I look into western OK the less I’m interested. That’s really the whole point of a post like this, to narrow down a certain section of a state. I’m beginning to look more into KS with the development of free lodging that’s climate controlled and within 20-30 mi...

Re: First out of state hunt. Oklahoma Rios!?

I’m not completely just dead set on Oklahoma, either. I ran across some information that they had Rios and it caught my attention. I’ve got a good friend in North/Centeal Kansas that has just offered me to come use his house as a base camp to hunt. We were also looking at Missouri. I’ve heard centra...

Re: First out of state hunt. Oklahoma Rios!?

I've not hunted OK, so I can't help with specifics. However, my first web search would be on OKs game and fish Dept website. From there I'd make some phone calls to game wardens and biologist in the region that I was considering. Afterwards, I'd start using Google Earth and likely On X hunt maps to...

Re: First out of state hunt. Oklahoma Rios!?

Being a southern boy, I understand the lure of going after Rios.... they act differently than our home state Easterns. That being said... I have hunted a few places in Oklahoma, and Black Kettle is the last place I would ever wish to hunt again. For several reasons.... Black Kettle is a hodge podge...

First out of state hunt. Oklahoma Rios!?

Hello everyone, new member looking for advice. Myself and a friend are looking at taking an out of state (out of our comfort zone) hunt next year. We were debating Missouri or Oklahoma. I’m leaning toward oklahoma for a couple reasons. 1) Rios 2)you can hunt all day and don’t get cut off at 1 pm. Th...
