Louisiana youth season last weekend. Had 2 gobblers do their thing. Wife kinda missed the kill shots but it’s ok. My brother got a little excited his son killed his first gobbler.

Re: Can You?
I have an excel file I started in high school counting all my deer and Turkey kills. I would add a comment by each about location or any special. I have a separate column for the ones I’ve called to the gun too. It’s not the same as the pictures but I can still reminisce by looking at the good years.

I drilled and tapped a youth 870 20 gauge. Plenty of metal there. Not to hard to do yourself especially if you have a drill press.

Yes indeed. I used it the same for my 6 year old. People couldn't believe she could shoot turkey loads. I'd tell them it kicks less than dove loads.

Kate the killer
Been trying the past 2 weeks to get my six almost seven year old daughter to kill a turkey. Lots of close calls and had a lot of fun, but it all came together this evening. Thank you Jesus for 2 year olds. Here's a link to the gun and setup we used. http://www.gobblernation.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?...

I opted for 20 gauge 870. http://www.gobblernation.com/phpBB3/vie ... 16&t=13900
We practice with the Winchester low recoil low noise skeet loads. They are like shooting a .22.

I love it for deer hunting. It's like shooting off a bench. It has a lot of adjustability.Newbie wrote:You like the field pod??? does it come with the tripod?
The tripod is included. Not sure if it's removable.

Started off using my Cabela's points to buy a youth 870 21" barrel. You have to pay for at least $0.01 of a firearm purchase. http://gobblernation.com/photopost/data/500/IMG_1053.JPG Stock gun http://gobblernation.com/photopost/data/500/IMG_1027.JPG Added a 12 gauge Knoxx Recoil reducing stock,...

Good luck. I ended up going with the 12 gauge Knoxx and using the 12-20 gauge adapter.

Re: Moving Louisiana's Season Later
Next year it will open April 7th and close may 6. Are there really hens going unbred due to lack of gobblers from hunters killing all the gobblers?
So many reg's are politically motivated it's hard to trust a biological one.

Moving Louisiana's Season Later
http://www.nola.com/outdoors/index.ssf/2017/01/commission_considering_major_c.html I don't entirely understand the point of this. If you're not reducing bag limit or season length I would think you're not effecting turkey harvest. I don't think that there are any hens that aren't getting bred. Or th...

I have the harrison and the primos hoot flute. Harrison sounds more realistic but hoot flute is louder and higher pitched. The hoot flute seems to get more gobbles so I carry it.

Yeah the current "original" bottomland is grayer than the true old stuff. I like the original original bottomland. But either is effective if motionless.

% of Gobblers that rarely gobble
Every year during preseason I'll locate 4-5 gobblers on my lease. You can count on these gobbling 80-90% of the mornings. Then on a real clear perfect morning I'll hear turkeys gobbling everywhere when they day before it'd be only 1-2 gobbling. It makes me wonder how many turkeys only gobble once or...

30-40 min max with no responses or action. But if I'm in a good spot and it's later in the day I may only move 20-30 yards, but I got to get up and move a little.
