Re: Lights out turkey calls
I got the call in today. This thing is awesome! The craftsmanship and attention to detail when is was made is on another level. And it sounds like a dang hen turkey! The sharp cuts are unreal, another level for sure. It has a young, clean hen sound with staccato clucks and smooth yelps. Just a sligh...

I’m embarrassed to say I’ve not run Matt’s pott calls. But I now have 2 of his trumpets Better get you one! This one sounds great. Lots of nasally rasp in this call. It sounds like an old pissed off hen. His Purple Heart striker runs great on the Lonnie Sneed Heart Breaker and Outlaw hen I have too...

I didn’t go, but a buddy of mine went. He called and asked if I wanted anything. I told him to go find Matt McLain’s booth and then call me back. I wound up picking up a red slate in an Osage pot. He said Matt matched it with his Purple Heart striker. To say this call sounds amazing is an understate...

I always thought the guy was a jerk. If you aren’t humble, if your arrogant, a prick, you won’t get a dime from me I don’t care what your calls sound like. Their diaphragms got way to inconsistent anyway. What’s with the bugs and ninja’s anyway? https://i.postimg.cc/26999SGZ/BBC9013-B-52-E0-4315-AA2...

Anyone familiar with Wendell Rye’s aluminum calls? I just bought one used off of old gobbler for $40. Hopefully it sounds as good as it looks!

Yep, my TSS approved of it!
I realize that Kicks doesn’t like Hevishot or TSS, but I’ve shot a bunch off TSS through several different kicks, and I know lots of others have too.

Re: What about kicks .410 Gobblin thunder
Two shots through a clean gun averaged 180 in the 10”, and 105-110 in the 20” at 40 yards with the kicks .385 and Hal’s 370NM 9.5 handloads. Whats interesting to me (and idk if you can tell from this pic) is that almost the entire pattern was in a 15” circle. There were a few outside of the 20”, but...

Re: Sights for 301
This particular rear sight is gun model specific and is originally intended on fitting on a vented rib barreled shotgun. I simply measured the width of the rail boss, and ordered the closest match, which was made to fit Remington shotguns. 1/4” I believe. Then I just slid it into position, put a lit...

You mean like this? This is a truglo magnum gobble dot rear sight, with a Hiviz low profile front sight. Works great. I killed three longbeards with this particular gun last season. https://i.postimg.cc/281Qvt8x/2-A35-EFDD-3-D0-E-4647-B55-E-D69-EEF78-CAA1.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/cJLfm1QP/A9-E90-D06...

Just saw they’re making a choke for the Stevens 301T now. They do not advertise the constriction. Anyone bought one and measured it yet? I would be content on a .385 Indian Creek but I can’t find one anywhere

Re: Stevens .410 choke thread pattern Qs
I’m having a few chokes built, but the fella needs one to use as an example. He builds a lot of choke for a few big name companies when they contract jobs out. I just found out about this opportunity, but I’d hate to turn loose of the only one I have right now.

Stevens .410 choke thread pattern Qs
It’s the winchoke thread pattern I believe, but my question is; Is that the same thing as “Standard invector” chokes? I found one on eBay that says “model 9410 standard invector” .410 full. I’ve never owned any guns that used winchoke style tubes before so I’m unsure if this is the same thread patte...

Re: Stevens 301T .410 pattern results
I never cleaned between shots. I cleaned before testing this time, and made 4 shots without cleaning. Each shot put up higher pellet count numbers than the previous. The first round of testing I never cleaned the gun. Just picked it up from the store and started shooting. It had never been cleaned a...

Re: Stevens 301T .410 pattern results
I shot the gun again today after cleaning it and tightening the choke as tight as I could get it so that it wouldn’t work loose. Every shot increased pellet count as I went, which tells me that it shoots better dirty. It shot more consistent and is fully capable of killing turkeys. Poi stayed more c...

Re: Stevens 301T .410 pattern results
So now that I posted the results, I will say this. Those numbers are the average, but I did see some strange stuff with this gun. Between the two shots of each shot size load, one shot was roughly 20 pellets higher than the other shot. That happened with nearly every shot size combo I tried. One sh...
