Re: Anybody trap raccoons
They work great! Their death on raccoons and possums. Big marshmallows under the trigger, and on top are the tIcket. Very simple, but effective. Often both feet caught

Re: Inexpensive o/u
Bought a 28 ga Yildiz from Academy couple months ago. For around $450 it has been pretty nice. I've got several Citoris and that it's not, but it is a lot of fun to shoot. It's pretty light so I added some weight in the stock and it's balanced a little better.

Re: Need advise on video camera for filming hunts
I used the Tactacam this past season and was well pleased. On 5x zoom it takes great video. I used a gun mount under the barrel. Once I learned to hold the barrel still after the shot it did even better. Audio is pretty good as well, but it magnifies any sound you make on the recording. Didn't have ...

Re: GoPro Camera
I got a GoPro 2 years ago and did videos of several hunts. I was very disappointed simply because the field of view was way too wide for filming the turkey. This past season I tried a Tactacam and was well pleased. It has a 5x zoom setting and it really captured the hunt. Good audio as well. I just ...

Who were your mentors?
Just curious how people get addicted to this sport. It's easy to see if someone has a family member to coach them along. But not everyone does. For me I always loved to hunt anything and I was invited to accompany a friend on a turkey hunting trip out of state, back when my state had very few turkey...

Re: Accidental gun discharge
This was not really an accidental discharge, but it brought this incident to mind. Was duck hunting in a boat blind in probably 2 1/2 feet of water. At the time I was shooting only factory loads(before my hand load days). About 44 years ago the best I can remember. Winchester 2 3/4" Super X #4s...

Re: THE MYTH OF THE BEST SPRING TURKEY HUNTER
Excellent posts quavers16! Also decoykrvr. Been chasing them 37 years myself also. Through different hunting camps and sportsman shows I have met "The Best Spring Turkey Hunter" several times. And if there are any title holders reading this I would like to take the opportunity to congratul...

Re: Number Of Wild Turkeys--What Is Your Goal In A Season??
I try to fill every available tag I have. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. Always finish the season wishing "man, I sure would like to kill just one more". It never gets old.

Re: FALL TURKEY SEASONS FOR ALL 49 STATES....
While I respect what it takes to call in and kill a fall gobbler, for me personally I choose not to use one of my tags on a fall bird(out of state). We don't have a fall season in my home state of NC and I think, if we did, a lot of them would get whacked while feasting on corn by deer hunters. To m...

Re: Gobblers on the limb
I've only been chasing these critters for 37 years so I still have a lot to learn. I like to only give a roosted gobbler a few soft clucks or maybe a soft yelp if I'm fairly close in my setup. During my learning curve I have called to some in the tree and have had them sit in the tree until 9:00. (W...

Re: Best tasting bird
I like the white meaters best; quail, pheasant, grouse, and turkey. Dark meat I like Cans or Redheads, Woodies and all the puddlers, but don't overcook em. Saw Coots mentioned. They're fine too.

Turkey Nuggets
Just finished our favorite turkey treat. Simple and delicious. Cut turkey breast into bitsized nuggets or strips. Soak in milk for several hours. Shake in a large ziplock bag with House Autry Chicken Breader Mix until coated. Bring oil to 350 degrees and fry to golden brown. Drain in paper towel lin...
