Re: What is a Bottonland 870 worth?

I assume you are talking about the "original" that is a 3" gun. I have bought several in the $400-$600 range. May depend on which barrel, I just saw a 21" with factory rifle sights, but owner would not put a $ on it.

X2 on the Stevens 555. I'm shooting Hal's load of 9.5's with the Trulock choke. Killed a bird at 40+, this year. DRT

Check with William at SumToy Customs. He has done a number of 410's.

Re: .410 Payloads

I am shooting the 13/16 load with 9.5, TSS. My plans are to test the #10 shot, for next season. If you haven't tried the 28 gauge, I would sure give it a shot. I think it is a little more " user friendly" than the 410. JMO

ANOTHER 28 GA. FIRST

Me too... Got my first gobbler with a 28 gauge ( Hal's 28 XL load - TSS #9.5 ) last week. Shooting a Stevens 555 with a Trulock .520, what a pleasure to carry this little gun! A very nice Potter Co, PA bird. Watched 15 birds fly down at 5:47 am. Had to set up on this bird three different times. Fina...

Re: Got my PA bird #1 on the board this morning

PA birds have been very slow for me, as well. Seems like the hens haven't started nesting. Gobblers are not working... maybe this nice weather will help get them going. I have a second tag to fill, too!
Congrats on your bird!

TSS # 10 - Need 4-5 oz

Would anyone be willing to sell 4 or 5 ounces? Just bought a 410 with Sumtoy .375 and the smallest TSS I have is 9.5.

I would like to test a few shells with #10, before purchasing a more open choke.

Thanks for your consideration...

Re: Rem 1187 SP Greenleaf 21”bbl w FF3

I did the same thing, last year. They are a rare find at a "normal" price. I go in a lot of gun shops, in a lot of places, and every once in a while I find one of the 870 or 11-87's, from the early 90's. And I buy it! Don't be hard on the guys who are willing to pay top $ for one of these. To me it'...

Re: go to diaphragm calls

I recently picked up a Zink, Z- Cutter and like the way it sounds. My go to is the Primos - Kevin Meacham-1. Seems like I buy a couple new calls, every year. When I find one I like, I go back and get 2 or 3 more. I hold the line at around $8 / call. Not sure what you get with the ones that cost $14,...

And the testicles are inside the body, which is called cryptorchid. Another interesting thing is that hens have a sperm nest, which allows them to fertilize an embryo, days after the act of copulation.

Re: Gobblers on the limb

I've started sleeping in till around 8. Get up and have a couple cups of coffee, with a goal of being in the woods around 9:30. Generally find a lonely bird around 10, shoot him around 11, and back to the cabin for lunch, by noon. Hunting birds on the roost has only produced a few birds, for me over...

Re: Who were your mentors?

There was this guy named Carl Smith, who lived on Taylorsville Lake, in NC. My uncle had a cabin, next door. When I would go over there, in the mid to late 70's, I would hang out with Carl and listen to his stories. He was the first person that I can remember, with a mouth call. I was not old enough...
