Re: Shooting hen turkeys

To me, fall hens are fine to shoot, but I'd never shoot one in the spring, legal or not. What is the difference in shooting a "Legal" hen in the spring or shooting one in the fall? I'm not sure what your reasoning is here. My reasoning has nothing to do with populations or genetics, it's more about...

Re: Shooting hen turkeys

I hunt one area that I would estimate 25-30% of the hens have beards. That area also produces multibeard gobblers at about a 1 out of four rate. Over the years I've killed gobblers there that had from 1 to 7 beards. I'm not sure if it's related to bearded hens or not, but it sure seems to me areas ...

Re: Shooting hen turkeys

Not trying to derail the topic, but is there any genetic abnormalities in a bearded hen that would affect her ability to nest? I’ve wondered the same about does who have a rack. I wouldn’t waste a tag on one. I have actually seen a bearded hen with young, on two different occasions. I won...

Re: Rib Mount Reflex sight mounts

I personally like the reflex mounted as close to the eye as possible, the O/U doesn't allow that so the rib mount is about the only option a person has. I really like the SpeedBead mount simply for the fact if your battery would happen to crap itself you can sight right down the rib and use your bea...

If I were to go buy one today, it'd be the M2 or SX3 20 gauge.

I'm just trying to make sure I make a good choice.
I don't think you could go wrong with the M2, I have shot one for the last 3 years and I love it.

Blind Suggestions???

I am in the market for a new blind, I have a 9 year old daughter that wants to kill her first turkey this spring and I figured a blind would be our best option. I have never hunted out of a blind and frankly never seen the need for one................until now, I am looking for a decent quality blin...

Re: Missouri Turkey hunting guides

Missouri has scads of public land that is loaded with turkeys, unless you just specifically want a "guided" hunt it is not necessary. The first year we went out there to hunt there were four of us and we all killed a bird the first two days of being there, all killed on public land. you can contact ...

Not exactly the same, but Eotechs have a reputation for still working after having been practically destroyed. I vote Leupold with triangle reticle, but Trijicons are a close second. I was going to get a Leupold myself, but I found a way to get a Fastfire III for $74. They're good enough. For a kid...

Re: Who Shoots TSS in a BPS 20 Gauge

I personally wouldn't go any tighter than a .575 with the MOA load, I know a feller that shot 5 of the MOA's out of his gun with a IC .555 and had to heat the barrel with a torch in order to get the choke tube out. 2 1/8 oz. is a bunch out of a 20 gauge.

So sorry to hear Ronnie, sometimes you don't realize just how attached you are to them until they are gone. I lost my beagle dog last summer, had him since he was a pup (15 years) and about a week after he passed my wife tried to get me to get another beagle pup, I told her the ONLY way I would is i...

I dove hunt with my M2 20ga and I use the RR T2 with win AA. I've never shot so good with a gun. All my buddies always end up asking to shoot it before the hunt is over. (Not sponsored, not pushing a product, just being honest)
My M2 fits me better than any shotgun that I have ever owned.
