Land Between the Lakes
Been a while since I have been on here. Anyone gonna be at land between the lakes on the April14-15 draw hunt? Got drawn with a buddy who I am like 0-30 with on buddy hunts. It mystifies me.

Re: Best 12 gauge tss load
Hal has a 2.375 ounces 3 inch load that is the best I’ve seen as far as being able to throw a hunting pattern out to the theoretical limits of TSS. Red federal hulls.

The patterns also were not up to snuff to the hand loads I had which were essentially Apex.

Re: apex vs federal
I have not shot Apex but the federal shells I bought rattled like maracas. Out of the 10 shells I had, 3-4 gobblers behaved much more life like than they should have at the distances they were shot. I believe, at least at the beginning of the TSS game, federal just threw some tungsten in shells with...

Waiting for it to rain yellow puff balls at my place. Momma goose has been sitting at least 25 days on top of a 20 foot RV shed.

Re: I quit
Neighbors hunting turkeys out of blinds on three sides means neighbors hunting over scratch.
Plant enough food on your property that they don’t want to leave. During the critical run up to the season feed em. You can set your watch to an early season baited turkey.

I bought some federal TSS, some rounds would rattle like a maraca. I went back to reloading after that.

Re: Velocity ...fps?
You do lose yardage. A 2.5 ounce blend should be rocking closer to Apex FPS to get the theoretical best penetration at the longest yardage your pattern coukd hold up.
How much? Pulling it out of my rear, 5-10 yards. You could confirm by running it though KPY ballistics

Osceola Bow Outfitter
I’ve got a buddy who is trying to get his Osceola to finish off his bow grand slam. Can anyone PM me a recommended outfitter? He’s been twice now from Illinois with nothing to show, really just looking to get a jam up property to knock it off the list. I was gonna join him to knock off mine with a g...

Border Fence
I just bought a 7 acre pasture tract on the outskirts of town with a 2 acre pond. I was looking for some fencing ideas that would keep the kids and dog in and others out. It’s a corner property with two fairly well traveled roads on it which is the concern with the kids and dogs. I’m also gonna put ...

Re: question for turkey hunters
If your not eating the thighs, your passing on the best part of the turkey, next to the heart and liver. Cleaning the boiled legs is a real chore, but for soup, they can't be beat. IMO, just breasting a wild turkey should be cited as "wanton waste", or written up as just plain laziness. Y...
