Re: Heading West? Be aware
We just finished our annual trip to South Dakota. 7 day rental fee for a Ford Expedition was $1509. Just a little bit higher than in years past.

Re: What's your closest turkey kills
6 feet. I set up in a bowl with a tom roosted opposite to me on the other side of the bowl. It would have been easy for that turkey to fly down and follow the terrain and end up coming right down the gun barrel to me. But typical of those deep woods gobblers, he decided to circle way around to the l...

Re: Decline of Wild Turkey Populations
Gradual habitat loss is certainly a factor but there are more acute causes. I grew up hunting the edge of the Ozarks, where the big timbered hills joined the farm land. We had a growing population in the 70's and a large stable population in the 80's and 90's. Not long after 2000 things changed. Big...

Benelli offers their M2 with a 21 inch barrel. The were available in camo until about 3 years ago but now come in black only. Combine that gun with a load of TSS and it's a outstanding combo.

I sold a 23 inch Bottom Land camo one for $850 5 or 6 years ago. You'd have to give me $850 to take it back. Those heavy, hard kicking monsters definitely aren't worth the pain for the performance they deliver.

Re: Turkey tote
I use one I made from a nylon rifle sling and a slip chain dog collar. I had one out of para cord but it got pretty nasty from all the blood. I put a sling swivel in the end of the nylon strap and then slide the chain link over the attachment on the sling swivel. It took one carry job to get the len...

Hens all around. He’s smart enough today for hens to come to him. Could happen exactly like that 3 days in a row and in the 4th he may come running This. Exactly. I had one a couple of years ago give me the cold shoulder all morning . INever did see him but he would gobble every once in a while but...

Need gps locations and contact info as well. I drew a tag for the following May and hunted that exact place. Believe it or not there was ONE longbeard and probably 20 hens there when I hunted it. Those turkeys are very mobile and disperse out onto the prairie as the weather improves. It’s hard to i...

Re: gobblers
Three years ago in early December in South Dakota. I was coyote calling on a friends ranch and came across a bunch of long beards in the creek bottom. I took a picture of them and later could count at least 48. I drove another 300 yards and there was another bunch that I would guess had a minimum of...

Take a look at the section right below this one. 'Hunt Strategies'. Read up on some first hand knowledge. There may be a 1000 years of turkey hunting experience in there.

Anyone have an example of a rib mount for the Delta Point Pro? It would be interesting to see.

That would be exceedingly difficult to mount on a over/under. Not to mention it would significantly degrade the value of the gun IMO.

I have that exact same gun and have a Carlson Longbeard .665 that shoots very nice patterns with that load. It will usually put 290 to 300 in the 10 inch and about the same number in the 10 to 20. My gun shoots a nice even well formed pattern.

When did you boys get Merriams in Georgia? You want a real challenge, come to the big timber deep Ozarks and give those birds a try.timbrhuntr wrote: ↑February 26th, 2018, 9:49 amYou've obviously never hunted them in Alabama, or Georgia !

I'd jump rope a lot if it wasn't so hard to find two girls to swing the rope for me. I mean they are always in school or doing homework or playing video games. It's just too difficult to coordinate schedules.

I got your PM. There simply isn't any way to mill plastic to a thickness of .030 that I know of. It's so flexible that it would move away from the cutter. There maybe someone out there who can pull that job off but I'm not the guy that can do it. Sorry

Re: Well, I guess we'll see......
Well, it took about 6 months to get this thing together, but I'm VERY happy with the way it turned out. It was a bit of a challenge to get it mounted like I wanted but I got it done. I ordered one of the Burris mounts for a 336 as I had heard it would also work with the Delta Point. It was a no go. ...

Re: Leupold delta point
I received a Burris base for a Marlin 336 today to try and mount the Delta Point Pro. I had heard that this base would be usable with the DPP as well as the FF3 sight. There are LOTS of issues with that base that in my view make it unsuitable for use with the DPP. The locator pins in the base do not...

37 years ago I was guiding bighorn sheep and elk hunters in what is now the Bridger Teton Wilderness area near Jackson Wyoming. I always was amazed how difficult it was for the hunters to get around in that country at 8,000 to 10,000 feet elevation. Now I KNOW why it so difficult. It would kill me ...

Yep, Ive already measured the receiver thickness at .150 which offers plenty of thread engagement.
