Re: Shooting in the roost . . .
Everyone hunts for their own reasons, just because it’s legal doesn’t necessarily make it right, IMO. Guess I like to play a game and see if it turns out in my favor. More often than not, it does not. But if it’s legal and you can live with your decision, carry on.

Re: Midland Backpacker 20ga .575 choke
That being said, I would rather have a little bit of weight to it. I’m shooting a 410 that’s almost 5 lbs, wouldn’t want a 3 lb 20. Brutal.

Bought some $40 Tru Timber gaiters to see if I like them. Hope to wear them this week, and hope they’re not needed.

Re: Covid question?
In my opinion, the virus is real but has been politically weaponized and I question its origin. Also, it’s timing. Something to watch for, without another “outbreak” in late summer of 2022, you can’t shut the whole works down and require people to have a bunch of “mail in” ballots in the upcoming No...

Snake proof gaiters
Been looking. What do you all use? Care to respond with pro’s and con’s of different models? I’ve seen them as cheap as $18 + shipping on eBay to $300 on Orvis. Not seeing bunch of poisonous snakes here in WV but I know they’re here (rattlers and copperheads) and gaiters would give me a little peace...

WV does, but it grandfathered in residents around my age and older. It is no longer being taught in schools to everyone like it was back in the 80’s.

Re: Sad day in WV young man killed
The only way I could ever see this happening would be shooting at a turkey and someone being on the other side that you were completely unaware of. Could not imagine a scenario where someone is mistaken for an animal and shot. Sent from my moto g stylus (2021) using Tapatalk True, but this violates...

Re: Lightweight gun weights
Well, for 410 I didn’t think so? I also have a Yildiz TK36 and Stevens 301, it seemed to have best features of both. Only things I don’t like is bead is off center and synthetic stock is hollow and noisy. When I shoulder it seated, never fails to hit a buckle or button and make a noise. Going to add...

‘22 Charles Daly 101 Turkey. Burris FF3 w adapter on supplied picatinny rail. Swapped factory choke for IC .385. As listed, the total weight is 4 lb 13 oz. Not real light, not real heavy?

Definitely try factory. Wouldn’t change how my patterns, left nothing to be desired. This was with a 13/16 oz hand load. Shot better than the heavier loads for me.

Re: Single shot 12 gauge
I bought a Charles Daly 101 Turkey in .410 this year. I am liking it. Looks like 12 has similar features. Fully coated metal in FDE, a definite plus. Rail for mounting optic. Good thing, my fiber optic bead appears to have been installed off top dead center. If 12 is like 410, go ahead and buy an In...

It often won’t sound right for a little while. The one you have may be ok. Look up Dirt Road Grocery Store on YouTube. He has a 2 part series on using a suction call. Good beginner instruction. Listen to one of the Mark Prudhomme, Permar or Rev. Zach Farmer videos. They are on another level, but mak...

Re: March hunting in next few years
Are the changes motivated by the alleged decline in wild turkey populations? I believe the perception of population decline is, in part, not hearing gobbling at the frequency we used to in years past. I wonder if this is due to turkeys reacting to predatory pressures they receive when vocal. Predato...

Re: Flintlock fowler with TSS for turkeys
Couple years ago I bought a 20 gauge flintlock fusil that I was told made by Greg Christian. I've been apprehensive about using it on turkeys, it is cylinder bore. I need to work on load development with it. I've shot .60 cal round balls with 70 gn FFFg Goex and it has a wallop. Accuracy is meh.
