Re: Cerakote Nikon Turkey Pro?
Had mine done by Black Dove Customs, no issues. Most companies will have a disclaimer saying they are not responsible for any damages caused by coating the scope. So I assume there is a slight risk.

Re: Turkey Beard Displays
I'm very meticulous when it comes to my beards and spurs. I like to keep the items from each turkey together, as well as the hull to the shell that accomplished the deed. On the hull I attach a label with information on the hunt. Gobbler #, date, location, time, etc.. Here is my display from spring ...

I've used a Venom for 2 seasons and had no issues with POI shifting. And my gear sees more use in 1 season than most folk's equipment sees in several.

You are too kind, advertising this opportunity! ha. I'm going in with 4 points. Always gives me a glimmer of hope looking at the draw results and seeing someone with just a couple points winning a tag. To get the most bang for my buck, I've been buying mule deer and elk points too at $15/per.

Re: Examples of dead mounts
They downloaded the data off the receiver and since they can't change the batteries, they didn't want to put it back out on a bird. Was thrilled they let me keep the ~$1,600 piece of equipment for my mount.

The cottonmouths in that area worried me more than the gators! Didn't see any snakes the first trip.. The second trip the woods were really wet and we encountered several, including a few brutes.

Got my entire shotgun done at Black Dove Customs for $225. It was another $80 for a scope and rings. I also paid shipping both ways which was around ~$50. Very pleased with the results.

Re: Toughest State You Ever Turkey Hunted
I've hunted 24 states. As far as time spent per bird harvested...Public land in my home state of Mississippi and public land in Bama.. I improved my Bama ratio a lot this spring though. Got real familiar with some ground after spending a lot of time deer hunting it. I've had a better success ratio s...

Re: Green Swamp WMA in Florida
They absolutely love to roost in the 'cypress domes'. The birds are there and killable if you are willing to put in the work. I recommend arriving a couple days before the opener to scout. Try to roost every evening. The birds seem to be more vocal after fly up than easterns.

I deep cleaned my 870 for the first time prior to the start of this season. Man was it fouled up... And my results? Worse with the freshly cleaned barrel, right back to where it was before after 4-5 shots.

Re: How was your season?
Pretty good...Managed to take birds in MS, AL, IL, IA, MO, NY, and PA. Birds seemed to be a week or two 'behind schedule' in almost every state with the late spring. The lack of foliage made it tough to move on birds and half of the ones I harvested had at least one hen with them. Saw several jakes ...
